Every year we gather together international experts, community volunteers, conservation practitioners and academics to discuss the latest knowledge and expertise on red squirrel conservation. If you’re interested in our work, you should join us!
The first two day Knowledge Fair took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland in March 2017. Day one focused on workshops to share learning from national and international red squirrel projects. Areas of discussion included community engagement and grey squirrel control. The following day everyone headed to the Mourne Mountains to see the management that Ulster Wildllife has been doing to this red squirrel stronghold.
The following two day Knowledge Fair took place in Bangor, Wales in March 2018. There were many talks and discussions covering topics such as Early Warning Systems, Integrated Grey Squirrel Management and Red Squirrel Captive Breeding and Disease Management. Everyone was then lucky enough to visit Treborth Botanic Garden where they have resident red squirrels.
