How are we getting on?
Project partners worked tirelessly for several years to develop the Red Squirrels United project. Funding was awarded by EU LIFE14 on 2nd November 2015 and on 24th May 2016 we were awarded the match funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
During the first year of the project we have been kept busy with planning and preparation. We recruited project staff across all areas, including rangers and community engagement officers. Partners made reciprocal visits to share knowledge, data and experiences. We have developed and produced communication materials and commissioned research studies to ensure our conservation plans are set up in an optimal way. To see the resources we have produced, please visit our resources page.
Over the next three years we hope to work with local community volunteer groups to put our conservation objectives into action to collectively make a difference for the UK’s red squirrels.
